NATIONAL AWARD PRESENTED August 26, 2007 |

During ceremonies conducted on 26 August
2007 at the US Army War College in Carlisle,
PA, Patriot John Fales (right) of Silver
Springs, MD received the "Bronze Medallion
of the Legion of Honor" from President of
the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Dante
Mattioni (left) of Philadelphia.
Using the
pseudonym "Shaft", Marine Vietnam veteran
Fales writes a twice weekly veteran-related
column for the Washington Times
newspaper. Shaft, as he is known, is the
President and one of the founders of the
Blinded American Veterans Foundation, a
for-profit organization designed as a focal
point and a clearing-house for research,
information dissemination and educational
efforts for those who lost their sight
during their military service.

LEIGON OF HONOR AWARDED to EILEEN R.
TRAINER

On 20 June 2007 Lower Merion Township's secretary, Eileen R. Trainer at age 70, was awarded the Legion
of Honor Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains, for her many years of selfless service.
Trainer was nominated in recognition of her service to all people regardless of race or faith and to
spotlight her volunteer activity on behalf of the elderly.
The Legion of Honor Award programs
publicly recognizes and honors outstanding members of society whose lives model the giving
spirit and unconditional service to community, nation, and humanity without regard to race,
religion, or creed exemplified so dramatically by the Four Chaplains. As such,
Eileen
R. Trainer is unquestionably deserving of this award.
